Products

Poster paper

This paper has an opaque base coat, which is wood-free and has wet strength. The reverse is yellowish or blue and does not allow images underneath (e.g. on advertising pillars) to shine through.

Durability of stickers

Limited weather resistance means that the stickers can be used outside to a limited degree. The durability of the print and the material depends on the weather, e.g. the print and the material are durable depending on the substrate and the weather.

Bindings

With our magazines we offer saddle stitching, loop stitching, spiral and perfect binding.

Bundling (magazines/flyers)

You can additionally select leaflets and Magazines of 135gsm and 170gsm in bundles of 50 or 100 pieces.

Print colours/special colours

Printing using HKS special colours is possible on our note paper.

Colour deviations

In spite of the most modern printing machines, there may be slight colour deviations. The print result is dependent on very many factors, including the character of the paper of individual manufacturers e.g. the degree of whiteness, the grain direction and/or whether it is gloss or matt; climatic conditions at the printing site, such as temperature and air humidity. Should colour deviations within the tolerance range arise for reasons of this sort, then due to the way our system works – the fullest use to capacity of our formes and machines – this will not constitute a reason for complaint.

Coloured paper (printing)

We do not provide printing on coloured paper. However, should you want a coloured background, it is possible to create this as a colour within your artwork.

Indoor paper

This is poster paper which is printed using an oil-based ink. The print has a limited resistance to UV light and limited weather resistance.

The grain of the paper

For technical production reasons, we unfortunately cannot take into consideration the grain of the paper when placing your order. We therefore cannot always rule out the possibility, under certain circumstances, of slight opening when sheets are folded. Opening can be prevented by scoring papers weighing over 170g/qm.

Scoring and grooving

This is the impression of a linear indentation in paper, cardboard or board using scoring lines or scoring rollers. The material is just displaced and compressed. Scoring prevents the material splitting or breaking when doubled or folded. Please be aware: the grain of the paper cannot be taken into consideration when producing folded goods.

Maximum paper formats

For posters (up to A0 size) we offer 100gsm, 115gsm and 135gsm gloss paper. For plots (up to A0 size) we offer 120gsm affiche paper, 240gsm (for indoor usage) and 175gsm backlit film.

Plot

Recommended for smaller orders of up to 25 pieces. We offer plots as indoor placards as well as on backlit film.

Maximum number of pages (magazines)

Magazines with saddle stitching can now have a maximum of 148 pages. With perfect binding we allow a maximum of 300 pages (including cover).

Punching

Using punching methods we can print round, oval, heart, price tag, semi-circle and tunnel shaped flyers/stickers.

Foil coating

We now offer single-sided post cards, presentation folders, business cards and leaflets with a bilateral film lamination.

Parallel fold/Special parallel fold

Special parallel fold is when the product is folded once in the middle. It is then processed again in a Special parallel fold. We can provide a z-fold of up to 8 pages; over 10 pages, leaflets are processed using a Special parallel fold.

Data

Bleed

Please create a 1mm bleed (3mm for posters) on each edge additional to the finished format. Important information (such as text/logos or graphics) should be placed at least 3mm away from the edges (5mm for posters and 7mm for magazines). For punched flyers, please allow 1.5mm bleed. Please create your artwork so it meets our standard data format. We recommend using our free templates when creating your files.

Labeling data

JPEG (jpg) is a format for compressed pixel images. JPG format compresses files so that can be used on the internet or for the fast exchange of data.
PDF (portable document format) is a cross platform format for printable documents, which was developed by the company Adobe Systems.
TIFF (tagged image file format) is for saving image data.
EPS (encapsulated postscript file) is a graphic file in the PostScript page description language, which meets the requirements need to allow binding of a document.

Layers

Before submitting your files, please delete all channels apart from CMYK and then reduce all layers to one common layer.

Colour mode

Please always supply your artwork using CMYK mode. Colours created in RGB mode are generally never the same as colours created in CMYK. Colour saturation should not exceed 240% in total; otherwise this will result in faulty printing. For a deep black within your artwork, we require 50% C 50% M 0% Y 100% K.
Do not use any decorative or special colours for any 4-colour products. This will inevitably lead to misinterpretation in coloration. Please only use process colours in your artwork. If special colours are used, we would ask you to replace these with the appropriate CMYK value.
Please be aware there will be slight variations in colour between the colours on your screen/from a printout using an Inkjet printer and the finished printed product. Computer screens show colours using the RGB system, an offset printer uses CMYK. Both colour systems are very sophisticated but not every conceivable colour is shown exactly the same in both systems. This is why your files should be created in CMYK mode using image processing programs in order to be suitable for printing.

Colour profile

We print with FOGRA39. For best quality printing of your files, please create them using FOGRA 39.

Magazine data

Please submit all files as individual pages and the pages numbered consecutively. The correct imposition, we will then do for you. Example: A4 12 pages: Please download 12 DIN A4 files. The data format must be 21.2cm x 29.9cm. Important text, graphics and information should be placed at least 7mm from the final format.

Register marks

In multi-coloured products, register marks guarantee that individual colours are overprinted accurately.

Technology

Print types

We carry out Offset and digital printing.

Raster/dpi

Rasters (dots per inch) consist of rows of dots running at right-angles: raster lines. The raster width gives the number of raster lines per cm. A 60 raster, for example, has 60 lines per cm, so there are 3600 raster dots per cm2; see formats.
